Caring for & displaying your photo
All the canvases, frames and acrylic blocks are Australian made and have all been created consisting of UV protectant inks and processes to ensure the life of your photo.

Photographs on the acrylic blocks, frames and mounted prints have a shiny metallic polished finish which gives the image a glossy and an almost wet finished look that pops.

Choose a dry well lit place in your space to display your artwork. Be sure to watch for direct sunlight from a nearby window. Whilst UV cured inks and processes have been used, it is not advised you display your photo in the direct sunlight or in a heavily heated area. Like a car or the fabric on a curtain, with direct sunlight over time shining directly onto the photo it can cause it to fade over the years very slightly.

Get to know Mikala Wilbow
Mikala Wilbow has been photographing the beauty of the ocean and surfing life in Australia and internationally for the past 5 years. She is living on the coast and surrounds herself by the ocean.

We asked her a few questions to find out how she captures such beautiful images.

How long have you been shooting for and how did you get into ocean photography?
I have been taking photos right back into high school when i spent my time in the dark room learning about the developing process and light. This is what sparked my love for photography and made me pursue this career to where i am today. I merged my love for photography and the ocean when i was 18 and took up surfing. Since then i have emersed myself in the coastal life.

What is the inspiration behind your photography?
The biggest inspiration behind my photography of what drives me everyday is the lifestyle of a surfer. The experience of being out in the ocean and submerged under the surface seeing the world in a completely peaceful and beautiful way.

You travel with Photography, Where is your favourite place to shoot?
I love photographing up the north coast of Australia. The colour of the water is just stunning and so clear. The beaches seem pristine and untouched and the coastal scenery is just beautiful.

Whats new for you this year?
I have a big year of travelling to a few exotic island locations, so i am very excited and working on a brand new series which i will be photographing throughout the year.

How do you take the underwater photos?
I have a very big housing case which protects my camera and a pair of bright flippers which helps me to move quickly in the water. Then its just swimming around hours on end getting myself in all sorts of crazy upside down positions in order to get that perfect shot. Holding my breath is sometimes the most challenging. With the movement of the water and waves, it is difficult when your trying to focus on a shot and frame it up whilst trying to keep as still as possible. Its patience and perseverance.

Mikala on the Collaboration:
“I am very excited to be joining forces with escape to paradise and bringing the beauty of the ocean to your home and office space. To be able to impact your walls and surround yourself with the beauty of the coastal life all day, everyday will give any space that feeling of a beach swim on a hot summers day.”
