Simple Styling with Cushion Covers

Posted by Sacha Alagich on

When looking to redecorate, whether it be at a change of season or a room is in the need of a refresh. We look to some simple design principles to provide ideas to create a setting that is interesting visually, inviting and welcoming in the space and creates the colour palette and design appeal that you are looking for.
Some simple tips to help create that space are...
.
COORDINATE YOUR CUSHION COVERS WITH THE EXISTING DECOR
Whether it be the neutral tones in your lounge or bedroom setting, the hint of blues from the pool or green foliage sitting in the clay pots, coordinating your cushion covers with the existing surroundings, helps to create harmony within the room
.
DON'T BE AFRAID TO ADD COLOUR
Adding bold statement colours can help to lift the depth of the room and add a new visual dimension. This may be adding a bright orange clay tone or mint green to help add a focal point
.
ADDING TEXTURE
This may be texture within the actual cushion cover, possibly a fringed edge or tufted embroidery pattern
.
DIFFERENT SHAPES AND SIZES
Change the shape and size of cushions to add movement for the eye. Using smaller rectangular cushions with a mix of square and large square cushions helps to lift a flat space and create an inviting space
.
ADD BLOCK COLOURS
Adding some block stripes or solid cushions or great to help coordinate splashes of colour and break up the prints

.

Happy Decorating xx
