Styling with Ornaments

Styling with Ornaments

Posted by Theja Dissanayake on

We have a natural love for cushion covers and home styling.

Sometimes the complete finishing touches are made with the careful placement of ornaments around the room.

When styling ornaments there a few key things to remember...

1. SETS OF THREE

Placement of decorative items cushions, vases, and decor items in sets of three creates a sense of balance and visual attraction.

Items that may be used do not all have to be the same item, or even related, though mixing, a vase, candle and ornament together can display a harmonious style

2. VARYING HEIGHTS

Placing items on different levels allows cohesive movement across shelving and a setting that is visually pleasing with similar items or a coordinated colour scheme.

Using different height objects allows the eye to travel and make the area interesting as curious minds will only want to explore

3. TEXTURE MIXING

When styling in a space, utilising different materials creates interest, for example, shiny metals or ceramics, neutral woods and wicker and soft textural furnishings allow for impact and interest

Choosing a styling theme of coastal, monochrome, and varying colour palettes allows appeal to the eye, with the textured elements, such as a ribbed edge or a fringe allowing depth in the display
